We would like to introduce Achilles v. Bochrahmer, one of our most
exciting young imports. He is the product of a breeding that we suggested to
the Mueller family, from the well known Bochrahmer kennel in Germany. We are
very happy and thankful that they agreed with our choice of studs for Yvett
(the mother of Achilles), so that the litter that produced Achilles became a reality. I think you will agree that the
genetic combination worked out very, very well.
Pictured above at only 16 months of age, Achilles is a very large
(67 cm) and amazingly built dog. He has tremendous bone, incredible substance
and muscle, and stunning color and pigmentation. Achilles is one of those rare
head turning dogs that people can't seem to take their eyes off of. The first impression that he gives people is
a rottweiler of extreme size and power, but
at the same time Achilles is a very dry dog with excellent proportions. Unlike some
other dogs with massive heads with very pronounced stop and muzzle broadness
(his head proportions are 16cm top skull x 8.5 muzzle length),
Achilles has tight flews and is completely dry everywhere including his neck, throat, and
forehead. And although he weighed in at 130 lbs. in show weight (at only 19 months old),
Achilles is tone and lean with unbelievable muscle. In the show ring, he is
always in the top placings and has received multiple V ratings as a young dog
including at the 2008 USRC
National Sieger show. He was also best puppy at last year's Kentucky show
under head ADRK judge Werner Walter.
As impressive as Achilles is to look at, all of this would
mean little to us if he did not have the working temperament that our kennel
is well known for. However, in this area Achilles also really shines, and he
achieved his SchH 1 title at less than two years of age. He also passed his
breed test a few days after turning two, and ADRK Kormeister and Judge Mr. Uwe
Petermann said that his protection performance is one that the German breeders
dream of! Even though at first glance
one would look at his pedigree and initially notice that the show lines are
unmatched, knowledgeable working dog enthusiasts quickly see that there
are some "serious business" dogs behind him as well. Fortunately for us,
Achilles gets most of his temperament from his two grandmothers, who are well
known for producing incredibly strong working drive. Because of this, the schutzhund field
is where this beast really comes to life... and with his size and
power the helpers are always left thoroughly impressed. His bites are
consistently hard, full and calm, and his fight drive during the hold and bark
is clearly evident. That being said,
once Achilles has
finished his work, his solid nerves and clear head are immediately obvious as
he returns to his normally friendly and outgoing demeanor. We are
tremendously excited about the
potential of this incredible young male!
