I. BASIC OBEDIENCE
This course is recommended
by us for ALL dogs. It is designed to teach the owner how to train and
communicate with his or her dog. The verbal commands for any level of training
may be taught in the German or English language. The commands for heel, sit,
stay, down, and come are all covered within this course. During the course, the
owner will have the opportunity to discuss other problems which may be occurring
at home with the dog (e.g., housebreaking, chewing, etc.) and will be advised by
the trainer on how to deal with them. The owner will be taught both verbal and
hand signals for each command. In addition, a closer bond will be established
between dog and owner.
II. ADVANCED
OBEDIENCE
This course is for the dog
owner who desires professional dog training assistance in teaching the dog
obedience both off lead and at a distance. Obedience under more difficult
distractions are introduced and polished at this level. Much emphasis is place
on precision during the work, and any special requests for additional commands
can also be covered.
III. PROTECTION
This course is for the owner
who desires aggression on command from the dog. The dog is taught to be
defensive and protective in the home, and automobile if desired. In addition,
the dog is taught to respond to threats to himself or his family. Bite training
for this level is optional. At the completion of this course, the owner can
expect the dog to exhibit more confidence.
IV. ATTACK
All previous levels of
training must be passed before beginning this course. The individual dog must
also exhibit the proper stability and intelligence required. Level 4 is an
offensive mode, and is not ordinarily suggested for home use. The dog is taught
an offensive assault, and is actually educated in the combat of a person or
persons. He is taught to use the full potential of his jaw pressure in biting an
assailant. Command protection and recall are covered both on and off lead.
Muzzle work for this level of training is optional. At the completion of this
course, the dog will reach a level of maximum aggression and confidence when aroused,
but should always display absolute obedience and clear headed stability in
normal daily living. At the completion of this course, the bond between dog and
owner will be extremely pronounced.
V. POLICE PATROL
This is a specialized
course, taking the dog through the Level 4 attack work and then modifying the
training to suit the department, or individual officer's personal needs. Police
dog training may include any or all phases of police K-9 training such as
tracking, air scenting, pursuit/hold at bay, search and seizure, prisoner
transport, building search, crowd control, narcotics detection, bomb detection,
poison proofing, obstacle agility work, etc.
VI. SCHUTZHUND
This course is designed to
train the dog for competition in the German sport of "schutzhund". The
dog will learn the needed tracking, obedience, and protection exercises in order
to compete for the level of schutzhund in which he qualifies.
VII. SECURITY
This level of training is
reserved only for area or building security. It is not the type of training that
is practical for home protection. The dog is taught to attack virtually anyone
who enters his area. He will be trained to allow only one or two specific people
to approach him, so that he may be taken at the end of his shift, back to his
living quarters. The dog can also be taught to refuse poisoned food and a avoid
any other attempts or tactics to alleviate him from his duty.
